About The Iceman Riders

Military Motorcycle Club

What is the purpose of the Iceman Riders Chapter? The purpose of this club is to promote: esprit-de-corps, safe riding, mentorship of inexperienced  and experienced riders alike, and positive community impact for all Military & DoD (including DoD civilian) riders stationed in the Alaska Interior. We're a new and independent MMC, respectful of the MCs that share the road with us in Alaska.

What's the meaning of the back patch/colors? The horse represents the horsepower of our rides. The knight represents the old code, how our members are expected to act. The lightning bolt represents the striking power of the Armed Forces. The stars represent the original 13 American colonies. The knight's shield represents the defense of our countries.

What are the requirements to become a Wolf (full patched member)? First of all, come out to a few of our socials and get to know us and we'll get to know you and your family. If you want to take the next step, you'll complete a membership application and turn it in to an officer of the club. To be eligible for full membership you must have a motorcycle endorsement, be either active duty military, reserve or guard member, military retiree, military dependent or civilian employee of the federal government (DoD, AF, etc.) of the US or Canada. Please let us know if you have any questions about the requirements.

Is there a prospect period? Sort of. If you have been riding for less than a year and want to join, you'll become a Raven (new rider member) before becoming a fully patched Wolf. During your time as a Raven, you'll be paired with a Wolf Mentor (your Moose) for a certain number of hours of riding. Typically a Raven will be accepted as a fully patched Wolf in their second riding season.

Is there a PPE (personal protective equipment) requirement? Yes. Our mission as a club is safety and mentorship. If you are a patched member, you are required to wear a DOT approved helmet, gloves, long pants, and boots (above the ankle), in addition to all other airbase and locally required clothing. Active duty members will comply with any other applicable rules outlined in AFI 91-207 (or service specific instruction).

Do I have to ride a certain type of motorcycle to join? No, we welcome all makes, models, and sizes of motorcycles / trikes as well as all experience levels of riders from those just thinking about buying their first motorcycle to those who have been riding for years.

Is this a "1%" club?  No, we're a family oriented club consisting of active duty military, reserve & national guard, military retirees, DoD and Air Force Civilians, and military dependents. We abide by all federal, prefectural, and local laws. Spouses, children, friends, and family are welcome to ride with us and to attend our monthly socials. A little background about the term "1%" - This is claimed to be a reference to a comment made by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in which they stated that 99% of motorcyclists were law-abiding citizens, implying that the last one percent were not law abiding.
